Jacksonville Presbyterian ChurchRev. Richard Gribble once told about an international gathering of young people, who met for a full week to discuss how to better spread Christ’s message to the world. Attendees at the conference read many informative essays, heard many fine speakers, watched a few videos, and had plenty of time for discussions with each other.

As the conference was beginning to break up and those attending were packing to leave, a young woman from East Africa rose and said, “In my country when we hear that a pagan village is ready to accept the gospel we don’t send books, videos, a Bible, or even an evangelist. Rather we send the best Christian family we can find because we have found that the example of a good family speaks louder and more clearly than all the books, speeches, and videos in the world.”

It is so true that our actions speak louder than words. Saint Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the gospel everywhere you go. Use words only when necessary!”

Friend of Geneva, today I encourage you to be the hope. Find a way to be a blessing to at least one person.

Let us pray: God of Grace, May we be instruments of your love and hope this day. Amen.
