Geneva Presbyterian Church in St Johns Fl

A St Johns FL Presbyterian Church

Joe AlbrightWelcome to Geneva Presbyterian Church of St Johns, Florida!

Thank you so much for your interest in our church. We understand ourselves to be a family; people of all ages and backgrounds, seeking to follow Jesus together through the ups and downs of the journey of life. We also believe that God has called us into this family for a purpose; to be a blessing to our community and world. As we share our lives together, we become part of a movement, a compelling force for God’s love that is so much bigger than our individual lives. We care passionately about people, because we believe God cares passionately about people. And we believe that God cares passionately about you. Wherever you are in your journey of faith – my prayer is that you would know the depths of God’s love for you – at the very core of who you are. And may God surround you with a family of faith who will encourage you, challenge you and walk with you. If you don’t currently have a family of faith, we invite you to be a part of ours. Come worship with us. Come experience God’s grace with us. And may the fullness of God’s peace be with you. Peace, Joe Rev. Joseph Albright, Pastor

Upcoming Events

Maundy Thursday

The Geneva Music Department will present the dramatic presentation, LOVELIGHT by Janet Litherland. LOVELIGHT is based on the ancient Tenebrae, a service dating from the 8th century. It commemorates the suffering and death of Christ and represents the darkness that overcame the earth as God’s Son was crucified.  LOVELIGHT’s dramatic readings will be presented by three actors; the Narrator, played by Joseph Mahoney, (an acting/vocal major from Jacksonville University) Mary, played by our very own Becky Thacker, and God, played by the one and only Bill Talley. The Geneva Chancel Choir and instrumentalists will perform several inspirational hymns between readings.  Please make plans to attend this beautiful and dramatic presentation as the Geneva Music Department performs to the glory of God, LOVELIGHT by Janet Litherland. A simple dinner will be served in Fellowship Hall at 6, followed by the service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Good Friday Prayer Vigil

In silence, alone, we honor and recognize the enormous sacrifices that have been made for each of us… and we vow, through prayer, to heed God’s call to love longer, live larger and tend more mercifully to those we touch each day.

Prayer slots are filled in 15 minute increments. Prayer suggetions are provided should anyone feel more confident with guidance.  (Not that you can get prayer wrong…but it’s useful to have a place to begin.)

Reclaiming the Richest Aspects of the Season

Yesterday was the first Sunday in Advent. And so we have begun a new year in the Christian liturgical calendar. We usually begin this season in church with readings about Jesus second coming. As the weeks progress toward Christmas, we then move toward the birth...

Love Letters

Letters play a major role in our lives: love letters, letters of encouragement, critical letters, business letters, newsy Christmas letters. Letters give people a lift or a letdown. Letters may also bring a smile, even when written in all seriousness. I read of the...
